Message from the Co-Chairs

Welcome back to ICE!

Trampoline is very pleased to once again be chairing the ICE Awards. Since the inaugural awards in 2002 the ICE Awards has matured into a nationally recognized celebration of excellence in Atlantic Canada’s communication arts—and has become the region’s most anticipated advertising event.

Before undertaking the job of chairing this year’s event we spoke with a number of stakeholders and bystanders. The consensus was that ICE was in a good place and whoever took it on should not mess with a good thing. Armed with this information, we came up with a few simple rules that we intend to uphold:

  • No big surprises—This year’s show will look very much like last year’s.
  • Familiar categories—The submission categories have been tweaked just a bit to reflect current trends in the market.
  • A Single agency lead.  Not single agency led—The planning and organization of the event will be as democratic and transparent as practical. All agencies are invited and encouraged to participate in the organization. Anyone wanting to participate is invited to contact us.
  • Our clients are judges too—Though the judges will be reminded that this is a regional show, we do not expect judging standards to be at all compromised. What they will be asked is, “Is the work at a level that has likely delighted their clients and impressed their peers?” If so, they deserve to be recognized.
  • Welcome, Atlantic Canada—Although the show itself will be in Halifax, participation from other cities will be encouraged and welcomed. To this end we’re delighted to announce that the folks from Target in NL will host this year’s judging.
  • We’re in this together- We’ll continue the “Friends of Ice” notion that was started last year in the directory. All agencies and suppliers will be welcome. In addition, there will be no exclusivities with regards to sponsorship.

Finally, and perhaps most important, we hope to have a record number of submissions this year. Today is the official Call for Entries, but it’s not the last you’ll hear from us. We’ll be in constant contact with you during June so there’ll be many reminders to get your entries together and send them in. Which is important, since the deadline of June 30th is firm—no extensions, and no late entries accepted.
