Volunteer Market Wins Best of Show at the Tenth Annual ICE Awards

Atlantic Canada’s Best Work Celebrated

Halifax, NS: October 24, 2011 –
The most creative advertising and marketing minds in Atlantic Canada came together on Friday, October 21 to celebrate the un-dead. And what a celebration it was. From classy and creepy costumes, to the iconic Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, it was a night to remember.

The night brought together winners from agencies across Atlantic Canada, with over 75 awards handed out.

The top award of the night, Best of Show, went to Extreme Group for the Volunteer Market campaign. The Volunteer Market is aimed at raising funds for The Canadian Red Cross (CRC), by encouraging people to offer donations in exchange for volunteer services. It’s all about doing what you can and supporting a good cause.

“This award means so much to us,” said Christena Copeland, Senior Corporate Relations Officer, Partnerships Fund Development for the CRC Atlantic Zone. “The Volunteer Market is an exciting and innovative project that allows the corporate community to support the work of the Canadian Red Cross in a fun and creative manner. It’s a fantastic way for workplaces to build team spirit and employee morale in a meaningful and impactful way. Without the support of the corporate community, we could not do half of the work we do – so thank you.”

The evening's big winners were Extreme Group and Target Marketing. Target Marketing had 24 awards, including four gold. Extreme Group’s 26 awards included Best of Show and four gold awards. Other winners included Revolve with 10 awards and Trampoline and Cossette with five each.

“Atlantic Canada can clearly compete with the rest of the world after what we saw here tonight,” said Jason Eisener, Co-Chair and Dartmouth producer, director and movie maker. “I’m so incredibly proud to have been a part of this celebration and I can’t wait to see what next year brings. It was a hell of a night.”

This year’s team of judges, led by Michael Murray of Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, reviewed 317 entries at the judging event in St. John’s from September 15th to 17th. This marked the third consecutive year ICE judging moved outside the award’s host city of Halifax, a move designed to broaden the event’s appeal throughout the region.
