Halifax, N.S.: The 2008 ICE Awards took place last October, celebrating the best in advertising creative from this region. A crowd of almost 500 came out to watch some of the industry's best win the coveted Nova Scotia Crystal ICE Buckets.
"This year's ICE Awards was about celebrating winners at all levels, from merit through to gold, as a true reflection of the hard work of the talented individuals who continue to push the creative envelope in Atlantic Canada," says Brian Hickling, 2008 Co-Chair and Senior Vice-President of Colour. "It was a great night for the industry in Atlantic Canada."
The evening's big winners included Extreme, who took home Best In Show for their Worker's Compensation Board Campaign, Work Safe. That campaign also garnered two Gold buckets in other categories. Colour won three Gold awards for its Landlord Lou Campaign developed for Killam Properties and both agencies received Craft awards in copywriting for those campaigns. Trampoline captured Gold for their unique direct mail piece developed for
Piercys. Killam Properties took home the Fearless Client award for their work with Colour on the Landlord Lou Campaign.
For the first time, a gallery of all the work was on display following the ceremony, truly making the creative work the focal point of the night.
The 2008 Ice Awards judging panel included Ron Tite, Vice-President/Creative Director of Sharp Blackmore Euro; Siobhan Dempsey, Associate Creative Director, Bensimon Byrne; Christina Brown; Israel Diaz, Creative Director,
Leo Burnett Canada; Michael Willson, Associate Creative Director, Dashboard; and, Cathy Whelan Molloy.
